Baker the cat update: The appetite stimulant has made quite a difference. Baker has nibbled on his kibble and munched on some treats, but the biggest change has been in the amount of food he's been able to hold via his feeding tube. He took in so much tonight that he's now in the cat equivalent of a Thanksgiving turkey coma, resting comfortably and breathing easily.
We're hoping his food intake continues to rise tomorrow and that he keeps making progress.
@leejackson How long will he have the feeding tube?
@Kitty62862 Right now, for as long as necessary. His pancreatitis was diagnosed as that bad.
@Kitty62862 The pancreatitis was diagnosed after the surgery to remove the string. It's possible that the bowel looping inflamed the pancreas. The doctors aren't sure.
@leejackson Wow! So he needs the feeding tube until that settles down. Poor baby. I bet he needs some kind of collar to keep him from getting at it. At least he’s home. That’s a major thing. To be home.
@Kitty62862 He does have an E-collar, but it's mainly to keep him from licking his abdominal incision.
@leejackson @Kitty62862 Just went through this with Bentley. Hope your kit recovers quickly. The pain is real. ❤
