I’m starting to feel like It will take some time for me to understand the rules here. Just when I think I get it, I see posts about hashtags and how not to offend people, just general posts. I don’t want to be offensive or feel too stifled either. My point is, if my posts would be offensive couldn’t you just block me or am I missing the bigger picture.

If I understand correctly because of the large influx of Twitter refugees, the firehose that used to be manageable for some, is now much larger. Being an introvert I can relate to stimulus overload. So the use of the hashtag limits visibility which is preferable to blocking and firehose will be less congested.
The firehose was never going to survive a large increase of the user base. It will evolve I assume...
