I saw someone on FB compare the Twitter debacle to Y2K, like "this isn't really a big deal."

As a Gen Xer who works in tech, let me clear something up: the reason Y2K didn't blow up is because companies around the globe took it seriously and handled their shit in the months prior. That's why you didn't wake up on 1/1/2000 to destruction: we did our jobs competently.

We couldn't have done that with 25% of a workforce.

@CheekyGinger Amen. There were still some impacts, but it wasn't anything critical coz folks took the time to prepare and patch.
Twitter's remaining staff are either Elon's stans or work visa hostages and they won't be enough to fix things quickly as bugs and exploits surface.
