On ableism and food snobbery: https://thewalrus.ca/garlic-in-a-jar/
This reminds me how it’s probably a good idea to avoid being odious to someone (even a hypothetical stranger) in a public space for purely aesthetic reasons and save disgust for moral ones.
@JLong Good point: this is maybe one of those instances where converts are the most energized and extreme?
@koavf Yep. I gave private cooking lessons for years and that happened pretty often. Its also a personality trait for some people, they learn a little about something and then they act like Iron Chef.
@koavf You can chop garlic in a small coffee grinder if knives aren't an option. Just a few pulses should do it.
@JLong Nice. But will it make your coffee taste like garlic?
@koavf Definitely, so get one you use that's just for food. But the small ones don't cost too much. You can also make pesto.
@koavf That breed of at-home cooking snobs usually haven't been cooking for very long or very often. Some things have diminishing returns, like fresh vs jarred garlic. They usually don't even know HOW to dice garlic properly.
