A sixth mass extinction event may have already begun: https://www.vice.com/en/article/wxdg4z/scientists-warn-that-sixth-mass-extinction-has-probably-started #extinction #death #climatechange
@koavf
I read tge article say it id definitely well underway, & that “We feel that the most important thing we can do for the future is to preserve as many of these species as possible in museums, so that in 200, 300, or 500 years from now, people will still be able to say this is what the Earth once had."
I think that scientist is over estimating the resilence of civilization in the light of mass starvations.
@dz The super-rich will survive and they will want to preserve some narrative of high culture. :/
@koavf
lol. No they won't tho they imagine they will, on mars or the moon or on islands. But what happens when biodiversity dramatically falls is, systainability changes. Humans are at more risk than they are capable of imagining. Survival scenarios are fantasies.
@dz I hope that we are both wrong either way, but I reckon the wealthy have enough technology to find a way to survive the next few centuries. A toast to not finding out either way!
@koavf
we disagree, I am pretty sure they will die horribly, after dooming us all, saving nothing but their all-important egos.
@koavf
You’re probably right.
But the wingnuts will deny to their last breath, as they pocket money from the fossil fuel industries, and distract everyone with their “Pro Birth” BS.
