I never really knew my mom as everything was a secret, or just not discussed. Took me forever just to find out what year she was born. She's been gone 24 years now, but every mother's day I just hope my daughter knows me and knows she is loved. 💕

@kjo That pic looks like it was taken in the late 1940s or early 50s. American society was much more conservative then (which a significant number of folks are hell-bent on dragging us all back to). If a woman or girl got pregnant out of wedlock, it was considered shameful and, in many cases, she would've been encouraged to give the baby up for adoption. Afterwards, discussing it would've been largely taboo, as it would've merely compounded the shame. That stigma began to lift in the 1960s & 70s

@POOetryma I believe this was taken in the late 30s, early 40s. At least 17 years before I was born. I believe my mom was abused by her uncle growing up as her mother sent her away to live with them when she was about 4 as there was a new husband. I'm sure her early life affected her the rest of her life, but we'll never know. Nothing to do with pregnancy in her case. I'm well aware of the history of shame women have been put through. And hate what MAGAts are hell bent on doing to women.
