evidently I'm living wrong.. I've wanted a rain gauge for a long time. Apparently, I can't have one. According to experts, you have to put it at least 2x the height of the nearest obstacle (tree) away from it. Well, I live in the woods, my neighbor's trees are all about 100' tall. The closet point more than 200' from a tall tree is 1/4 mile away in the center of the nearest big street.

I think I'm just going to put a glass outside on my bbq and call it good.

@TrueBloodNet My 'rain gauge' was an old plastic pitcher I had hooked over my courtyard fence that I shared with my townhouse neighbor.

I think your experts are talking about the ones used for official observations, that are done hourly or 3-6 times daily.

@kismatt Well, I'm a field biologist so I have visions of accuracy :) I might get a cute one with a frog. Cuz.. cute LOL

Calc III and I did not get along when I was 20, so I've been in the printing industry on and off for the last 30+ years instead!

@kismatt What that's a big life alteration! Hope you're enjoying the journey!

@TrueBloodNet Youngest person in my department (and I'm 55)
