A side effect of pulling all of my digital books into one self-hosted library is I can see very clearly how much garbage the Kindle library UI is (for example). So much fun to be able to browse, search, and filter my library so quickly.
Amazon has absolutely optimized for purchasing books, not reading the ones you've already bought.
@thudfactor Love Calibre. I don't remember when I started using it - probably right after I got my 1stgen Fire in 2011? I've broken my collection down into general topic libraries (crafts, cooking, gen-non-fiction, etc) and use it to scrape fanfic from AO3. I'll have to check out Kavita.
and Yes, I have DeDRM installed ;)
@kismatt Calibre to manage metadata, Kavita to have an attractive web interface for browsing the books.
