Also, choose your translator carefully. Many English speakers don't get the music in the Assyrian language 🤓
@killingfloorman Sometimes literally. Parts are melodic on purpose and the inflection isn't captured when written down.
Like how in English they drop the wonderful accent marks from other languages when it adopts a word.
@sentientdessert and there was the great North side/ South side schism of the 16thC BC (which I'm sure is referenced extensively in the book). The written language never really recovered from the lack of alignment between the two schools of thought
@killingfloorman I think I'd moved west by then. The memory gets a little rusty after so long.
There was a nice little seafaring civilization that was starting to explore the medditerranean and that seemed preferable to the infighting and screams of "how are you still alive" every time I showed my face in public.
