I made the mistake a few months ago to start sub-cataloguing my music library using custom genres.

I am now in a very deep cave with no way out. My food is running out and my leg is wedged underneath a very heavy rock.

Right - that's my mantra (good and shit, actually).

I have this really powerful library app - so I decided to finally start partitioning my collection - I just didn't think far enough ahead. Now I am in soooo deep!

@killingfloorman
Yeah! I use "Albums The App". It was developed by Adam Linder as an answer to Apple Music's "song-based" approach to library management on an IOS device. The app basically treats your Apple Music library as a "record collection" instead of a song collection. You can create collections, customize tags, create automations, etc. It's really fun. If you use Apple Music, it just sits on top of it and syncs with your cloud library. A dollar a month. 1/2

So, for me, on my desktop Apple Music, I had a series of album based playlists - which is fine at home. But, on my iPAD those playlists display as painfully long lists of songs because you have zero view options on IOS. That wasn't working for me. So, I went hunting and found Albums the App (IOS only at this time).

@killingfloorman
I should add that the app also syncs with Apple Music itself - so if you add an album from their catalog, it shows up in your Apple Music app instantly. It syncs bi-directionally.
