WTF is bubble tea?
@LnzyHou @kendonnelly it's tea you can chew, tasty
"There are dozens of variations of the drink, but at its core is a blend of tea, milk, and the trademark โbubblesโ or small, chewy tapioca pearls at the bottom of the cup. Favorite teas include honeydew, matcha, and bubble milk black or green tea with tapioca."
@Annothername @LnzyHou someone said it could also include gummy bears and such. Is that true?
Really?
@LnzyHou Whatever sells it, makes it look more colourful and drives Parents crazy but @Annothername listed the classics @kendonnelly
@LnzyHou @kendonnelly i don't think gummy bears would fit through the straw but that's the idea. You can suck a "bubble" up and chew it up. The straws are larger than ordinary but not by too much
Tea with tapioca pearls in it.
@mcfate that raises an interesting question:
WTF are tapioca pearls?
@mcfate oh you donโt have to Google for me. I am more interested in what people think of it.
You weren't asking what people thought of it, you were asking me what it was and what was in it.
I don't love it, but lots of people do. Been around now here for years. Like most food-related, just a matter of preference.
@kendonnelly https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tapioca_pearl put into a cup filled with a flavoured tea or green tee. Looks as if the tea has bubbles. Not everyone likes those โ pearls though and thereโs many different coloured and flavoured pearls ( or bubbles) to choose from- mango, maracuja strawberry etc. a so you can order a basically the Asian version of Southern Ice Tea variations ( only with something fun to chew on @mcfate
@mcfate have you had it? Is it good?
I've had it, and I can take it or leave it, but I'm not a tea drinker, and there's no such thing as "bubble espresso".
You won't know if it's "good" unless YOU try it, which would have the added benefit of informing you what it is.
@kendonnelly gross tapioca balls in the drink.
@JPSCHWEIZER63 sounds gross to me but I have not tried it.
@kendonnelly Itโs tasty. Iโm primarily a coffee drinker in all its forms (drip, espresso, cappuccino, etc.) and Darjeeling is my favorite tea; but I enjoy an occasional bubble tea. The best Iโve had was in San Franciscoโs Chinatown a couple of weeks ago.
@TetsuKaba made all the better by being in SFโs Chinatown! Jealous!
@kendonnelly It was my reward for walking up and down SFโs hills
@kendonnelly
Been wondering same thing.
