Migrating from the bird app and wondering how to follow users from other Mastodon hubs from here. Going to be a bumpy ride but the other site doesn't seem sustainable anymore.
@tdotrob Although this is based on Mastodon, it's "closed", it doesn't federate with other hubs. If you "go pro" you can use 3rd party Mastodon apps.
Definitely kick the tires, this is a very nice space, friendly and helpful and fun members.
@kay_dub Thanks! Already pro but I may need to do the 3rd party app thing. Some of the more tech-minded folks I follow at the bird are on other hubs like mastodon.social and I'd hate to lose them.
@tdotrob Yeah, I'm on .social (and a few other instances). What's a little confusing is, if you search for folks on a server other than .social here, they'll show up, and you can click on them as if to add them, but nothing happens.
And, visa versa. You can see counter.social from mastodon.social, and click to add, but no request is received. I spent about 2 hours being very confused until someone clued me in.
But, being able to use a 3rd party app with all the hubs is a win!
