"A Russian Telegram channel claims that the commander of the 2nd Motorized Rifle Division evacuated from Izyum two days ago even though some of his forces are still in the area."
There is no 2nd Motor Rifle Division in the current Russian army.
But there is a 2nd Guards Motor Rifle Division, in the 1st Guards Tank Army. Both of which are supposedly "elite" units, and both of which are/were in the Izium area after being rebuilt from the debacle at Kyiv.
Somebody was asking about the 35th Combined Arms Army (the Butchers of Bucha).
Badly damaged in the debacle at Kyiv and the withdrawal from the north. Thrown back into the line west of Izium and decimated there. Survivors in less than company strength transferred to the Kherson bridge head in late July where they disappeared from the map by mid August.
48hrs ago Russian forces in the Izium area were attacking southwards and failing.
This afternoon Ukrainian troops are attacking Izium from the north.
The remnants of 1st Guards Tank Army, with a paper strength of 3 elite divisions and an attached Motor Rifle brigade are trapped in the Izium pocket.
