This regulatory morass in San Francisco is getting thicker by the day. After being featured in 3 articles, I'm now the nexus for a bunch of information.
I think the Federal Govt (CMS) has allowed the California regulator (CDPH) too much latitude to assess the local skilled nursing facilities, of which one is run by Brius and has an extraordinarily unethical reputation.
Now I find that Brius is practically embedded with CDPH to siphon off patients to their SNF.
Result: 3 are now dead.
@jurban I agree! There is something suspicious about sending patients to Brius owned hospitals. They provide sub-standard care and profit from their contracts with Medicare and Medi-Cal! An investigation needs to be launched to understand the connection between Laguna Honda closing and sending its patients to Brius.
