The term "Christian Taliban" is trending on the bird site.
While I believe many in the US deserve that moniker, I also believe that the risk of the US taking the same trajectory as Afghanistan is highly unlikely.
This is not because the US-based Christian Taliban are weak.
It's because at least a plurality of US citizens are dedicated to the ideals of America.
Many will take up arms to support America.
Many will choose to die to uphold them.
That didn't happen in Afghanistan.

@jurban except lots of people in Afghanistan did die the last 20 years or so and many were still fighting as the President of Afghanistan peaces out with bags of cash and they had not been home, or been paid or provided decent food for months. The corruption won. The U.S. is not exactly great at routing out our corruption either and boy does it show.

Maybe using the military to press civics projects in other people's countries isn't a terrific idea.

Seems good that we got out of THIS one sooner rather than later.
