The article doesn't question how the reporter "obtained" private emails or whether it's a problem to use them to pressure a witness into backing out of a trial.

It may seem counterintuitive, but doxing a defense expert witness right before the trial harms the prosecution's case.

When the defense puts up a flawed witness, the prosecutors can impeach that witness on the stand, destroying his credibility
in front of the jury.

@jjmacnab Now I'm curious about what's in the messages and why they would cause the expert to withdraw. My suspicion is they incriminate the witness in some way.
