The conservative argument, that the only crime that is down is what is actually being reported to police is nonsense because the GOP are more likely to be involved with crime than any other group in this country. Experience has shown that funneling money & power to the GOP only makes crime go up. Look at Trump. Look at the Reagan era. Look at the MAGA mob storming of the Capitol on 1/6.

@jjGravitas I think part of the strategy is that the more time and effort is wasted investigating other people's often non-existent crimes, that's less resources and attention available to investigate theirs.
Sort of like calling in an active shooter threat on the other side of town from where you plan to rob a liquor store.
