So, we had to take our daughter, Navani, out of daycare in March 2020 (duh) when she was 1.5. She started in a small nanny-share last fall (now 3.5) because I'm very high risk for bad #covid outcomes, and we couldn't justify the risk of a large daycare.
Well, last Saturday the nanny tested +. She decided to open "school" again on Wednesday (5 days from her +), but we kept Navani out all week. Asked the nanny to test again this morning before we sent Navi back, and what do you know? Still +!
@jgold PCR pos I would potentially expect, antigen pos—ack! Hope the rest of the families are fairing ok.
@Thumprhare Yea, rapid positive, not bothering with PCR at this stage.
3/4 of the other kids in the nanny-share had covid in January, so chances are they'll be fine. Navi and a boy there are the only ones who have remained uninfected these past two years. I'm hoping he was also kept out this past week, but I don't know. I don't have his parent's contact info.
@jgold best thought of you keeping healthy!
@jgold there are so many selfish people out there, as you said, had everyone done the right thing two years ago we wouldn’t be in this sinking boat (more like a submarine!) now…. Smdh
@jgold Wow. I don't understand it. When we had a nanny/sitters before covid, they never refused paid time off because they "just have a cold". Just don't come in sick with anything.
@jgold The virus almost killed my wife, so I'm hyper-vigilant. Still masking in public, etc.
We argued with the Nanny for almost an hour last week that she shouldn't be going back to work until she tested #covid negative. But nooo "ThE cDc SaYs 5 DaYs!!". We told her we would pay her for the time she was isolating. No one should have to worry about losing a paycheck for doing the right thing. But she was convinced it was totally safe and we were being paranoid.
I'm just so tired, y'all. Over two years of living like a hermit because no one wants to care about anyone but themselves.
