Why is the Kroger bakery such garbage? How do you fuck up bread? Or pie?
@jameshands The bakery at our Kroger is crap too. They don't even make most of the stuff there, it comes in frozen on a truck. Which explains a lot.
@jameshands Because the south lacks good bakeries period. They're used to eh, see also: cannoli, meatballs, cheesecake, pizza and especially provolone cheese.
That's why I go to Safeway (great bakery at least by me) or Sprouts. Safeway soon to be Kroger so their bakery will go to crap too. I'm going to make it a point to support local business a LOT more.
@Luv_PI Sprouts does have a good bakery, I go there for pies and sale meats and stew veggies that Smith's doesn't carry. And the soda bread! 😋
We don't have Safeways here anymore. Is that the same as Albertsons? Kroger is buying Albertsons too I hear 😞
Yeah, Albertsons is Safeway they merged a few years back. The only way to fight it is to not support them. I'm in Colorado and Kroger will have over 50% of the stores along the front range around Denver. I'm sure they will shutter all the union stores and screw over the employees if the merger goes through.
@jameshands I agree. I have to rebake the cookies when I buy them because they are under baked and one of the berry tarts I bought made me sick.
