Ian needs recommendations, badly. I've been in a bit of a rut and it's affecting my search algorithms. I've got credits to burn, so hit me with ONE recommendation. Things I DON'T want: nonfiction, LitRPG, erotica, zombies, anything that doesn't have scifi/fantasy elements, licensed properties (No Star Wars/Trek/Marvel/DC), grimdark, horror.
Things I like: swashbuckling swords & sorcery, space opera, first contact, cyberpunk, steampunk, weird west (1/2)

These might help you decide on a recommendation.
5 movies I like: Mad Max Fury Road, Captain America the Winter Soldier, Silverado, LOTR, Star Wars Rogue One
5 TV series: Stargirl, Person of Interest, The Expanse, The Adventures of Briscoe County Jr, Hawkeye
5 novel series: Wild Cards, The Grand Tour (Ben Bova), Lensmen, Star Wars X Wing, Honor Harrington (2/2)

@ianthealy Yoon Ha Lee's Ninefox Gambit and the rest of the series. I cannot recommend them enough.

The Refreshing Hopefulness of Becky Chambersโ€™ Monk and Robot Books.

The premise is simple: in a thriving, harmonious world, Sibling Dex has a bit of a crisis. โ€œSometimes,โ€ A Psalm for the Wild-Built begins, โ€œa person reaches a point in their life when it becomes absolutely essential to get the fuck out of the city.โ€

@corlin This is a possibility. I really enjoyed Becky Chambers' Wanderers series. It introduced me to the genre.
