Morning all! The wind is still blowing a hoolie outside and it's lashing down but, what a difference a few degrees makes! From -5C a few days ago to 9C this morning! That makes the Storm slightly more bearable! Meanwhile in Norway, an extremely rare moon halo captured by photographer David John. Enjoy!
@homebird Morning π That's a lovely photo. Warmer is definitely nice.
@Mandypar Isn't it? It only takes a few degrees! Hey, in a week or so it will be February, then March... Spring cometh! hehe π β π»
@homebird Whoa, y'all have had warm weather!
We went well below -40C last week. It was bad.
That is a very nice photo! I'm assuming that halo is due to ice crystals in the atmosphere.
It's slightly less cool for me because I always see enormous starbursts/halos around bright lights like the full moon, espc those with a relatively high color temperature - IIRC it has to do with the fact that at one point I had a huge amount of glass splinters embedded in both eyes. Vision's otherwise good tho.
@IrelandTorin Oh crikey, Torin! That sounds intensely painful! -40 sounds like a cold version of hell! I am not sure I could stand that for very long! You would need a lot of heat to cope with temps like that! And yes, the halo is because of ice crystals. Beautiful, aren't they?
@homebird
Good morning!
Question: whatβs your definition of a hoolie? I ask because that was my (Irish) Dadβs nickname and I never really gave any thought as to how he got it in the first place.
@kellykba Blowing a gale! Also, in Scotland, a hoolie can be a good, exciting, ceilidh! π
@homebird
I think both applied at one time or another! Thanks for your reply. ππ»ββοΈ
@homebird Good morning! Beautiful picture!
