Well, my mood was ruined so I decided to go out and KILL some EARWIGS. My Sluggo Plus finally arrived and I had to prepare the beds.
First it's important to know your target.
These creepy destroyers of hopes & dreams curl up inside leaves & flowers and then start chomping away, destroying the plant bit by bit.
This was the grossest thing. If you look carefully you can see darknes hidden between the petals... those are all earwigs.
I was going to show you a video but it freaked me out too much. I cut off each flower and shook it into a refuse bucket and it was CRAWLING WITH EARWIGS. The flower on the left had 22 earwigs in it... the middle flower had 34 (had an entire nest of mini earwigs) and they were all trying to crawl out of the bucket and get back to the garden!
@QueenOfEverything Ewww! My gross big today was a mosquito cooked into the cheese on the pizza I cooked on my bbq grill because it’s too hot to cook indoors.
@QueenOfEverything OMG!!! I had no idea they do that (and I’m an intermediate gardener). I have battled aphids, but not earwigs. Geeeeeeeez! Blech!
They are DEVIL BUGS! When I first noticed the holes in my dahlias I assumed it was Japanese beetles- because that was the major pest in Texas. Only after 10 days did it occur to me that I Have Not Seen A Single Beetle... everywhere I looked it was #EARWIGS !
It seemed like as soon as they knew I was on to them- I found them all over. I'd pick up pots and there would be a entire nest swarming all over.
I did lay down the first application of Sluggo Plus 3 days ago. 🤞 🤞 🤞

EARWIGS are EVIL. I didn't include everytime I screamed or shreiked during my battle. It's slithery business.
If I had a grill, I would have turned it up high and sent every earwig to HELL.
They wiped out 4 raised beds of dahlias in less than a week.
