So we're going to start Vetoryl for our dog's Cushing's disease. Anyone have experience with this drug? Did it work or make things worse?
@h8cloz We've had two dogs on Vetoryl and it does help a lot, once you get the dose right. There's some expensive tests needed to get there, and you do have to be very mindful of dosing the right amount at the same time (or times) every day, but it caused both of our dogs with Cushing's to perk up within a few days.
@lenaoflune Thanks! We did all the tests to diagnose Cushing's and the vet has prescribed it. We have an appointment to have his first dose and another blood test, then again in 7 and 14 days. The vet wants to start at a low dose and work up slowly to avoid problems. I sure hope it helps him.
@h8cloz That's the safest way to do it, yep, and what we did with our older dog that developed Cushing's. An overdose, especially in a smaller dog, can be very, very bad :/
@h8cloz I've not had experience with that one, but I'll bet there are folks on here that have and they will step up to commiserate with you.
All the best to your pupper.
