@CherNohio Thank you, I am honored! I've sold my images in a couple of galleries and on my website for many years but I had to step back a couple of years ago. I have been caregiving for aging parents. I'm working on passing the torch to other family members so I can get a break....and get back to serious photography again. I am planning on moving to Alaska once my help is not needed here. Get closer to my daughter and back into the endless beauty of that state. And maybe a book then!
@gettinaway
I wondered if you had sold at galleries. Your work certainly is worthy of that. I remember your mentioning moving back to Alaska and to be near your daughter. I love that is to be in your near future.
@CherNohio When my dad's health got real bad I pulled my pictures from the galleries. I was spending most of my time with him and I didn't have the time for galleries. Now mom and mom-in-law are struggling. I am ready to be closer to my daughter. She lives with cerebral palsy and will need some more help down the road. But she doesn't want to leave Alaska. Once I am there I can help her and also do some exploring.
@gettinaway
You have so much on your plate. I thank you for sharing your photos here. Often times, its exactly what I need at just the right time.
@CherNohio Photography and the outdoors have always been my escape. I can take hours to hike a couple of miles. One of my brothers told me he likes hiking with me because he sees so much more.
My wife passed away shortly after my daughter was born. She grew up with me carrying her on my hikes. I think that is one reason she loves her remote life so much now.
@gettinaway
I would imagine the hikes to be intensely satisfying. The special bond with your daughter on those hikes makes the photos even more special.
Your eye captures such beauty. I feel as if I’m right there with every photo.
@CherNohio We both loved those hikes when she was little. Now she likes to bring a book along so she can find a quiet place to read. She knows I am so slow I am never far away!
Seconded. Or if you publish a calendar.
@gettinaway
@CherNohio
@GypsySongdancer @CherNohio Thank you! I offered calendars a few years ago. I am hoping when things slow down a little I can offer them again in the future!
Between yourself and @AndersonArtwork, I have no idea which I appreciate more. You both have a lot of skill and you need to give it to me...lol
Thank you, Bones! Fine company to be included with! @gettinaway shoots very well! A fine eye.
@Heucuva8 @AndersonArtwork @gettinaway
I agree Bones! We are so privileged to have them both share their work here.
@Heucuva8 @AndersonArtwork I am always happy when others enjoy the images I share. And @AndersonArtwork images are amazing!
Get to share with others who can appreciate and be inspired by the work always seems to be the completion of the Art process, for me. It doesn't truly become one's own individual language until it is transmitted to others. They may not get the message but I need to speak the message or they never can get it
@AndersonArtwork @Heucuva8 I have several teachers who use my images in their classrooms (including my daughter). They find the images to be calming and educational for their students. Knowing that gives me great joy. The whole process is relaxing for me and sharing them brings everything together.
How marvelous! I have dreams about mine being used to teach with in the far future....when they refer to this time as the "Beginning or Dawn of The Digital Age"
@AndersonArtwork @Heucuva8 My daughter lives beyond where the sidewalk ends. The digital age there is way behind what we have here. They got cell service only a couple of years ago and only if you are standing in the right spot. I'm glad I am able to have the tech I do! LOL
@AndersonArtwork @gettinaway @Heucuva8 A teacher can learn a new prespective from a student. A student learns from a teacher. A student can learn from making mistakes and reviewing their work. As some adage goes. You learn and then you have to write about it. Some people are built differently.
@duckclucker @AndersonArtwork @Heucuva8 Most of my daughter's students are Yup'ik. Her first year she was treated like every other teacher. Most new teachers try to change the students...make them better. Their culture was disappearing. My daughter would use part of her time to learn from them. She was interested in who they were. And because of her own struggles with CP she is one of the favorite teachers in her school. People in her town refer to her as native now. She is one of them.
@gettinaway
If you ever publish a table book of your stunning photos, please let me know. I am thoroughly enjoying what you post. The detail is just amazing.
