@gemswinc We set up our own household cloud, using this:
For less technical folks, you can get it pre-installed on a device you hook up to your home network. Everything's available as long as it is connected to the internet.
There's also hosted options for people that don't want to or can't self-host.
Instead of my phone and computer backing up to Google, it backs up to the server in our basement.
Which can itself be backed up remotely, too.
@AskTheDevil Thank you! An external hard drive for picture backup is all I use, all I need, but I will keep this in mind!
@AskTheDevil I wish I had stayed current on all this stuff. I became lazy using MS products.
@Tacitus_Kilgore I've been using the OpenOffice implementation that ships with Nextcloud for most of my office document stuff, not that I have a lot any more.
@AskTheDevil What tier do you use? Standard?
@Tacitus_Kilgore Yeah. I'm poor and big on DIY.
: )
@AskTheDevil I will seriously look into it, TY
@gemswinc Sorry. I tend to gush.
@gemswinc We're using ours mostly for file backup (including our pictures).
