Today's choice for Women's History Month is Judy Heumann. She was a tireless advocate for people with disabilities, who worked both in the government and on the streets for equality. She rose to prominence in 1970 when she sued the New York City board of education for denying her a teacher's license. In 1972, she led a traffic blockade in Manhattan when Nixon vetoed anti-discrimination legislation. She was also instrumental in the passage of the 1990 Americans With Disabilities Act.
