Why the OpenAI team charged with safeguarding humanity has imploded:
So, do we program AI with perfect ethics to have power over humanity? Itโs a conundrum.
@evamarie can we?
Yeah, well, Iโm vastly under qualified to give an answer ๐
@evamarie Socratic question.
Anyway, itโs like nuclear weapons, imo.
If we donโt they will, but should we anyway?
@evamarie Agree that Altman isn't interested in abstracts like "societal good." His doomerism requires me to point out that AI creatures inhabit special environments, places with magical "EPO" buttons. The buttons are big, red, impossible to miss. They immediately and completely stop, end, and extinguish any and all "AI" activity. No "safeguarding of humanity" is required in the Skynet sense. HOWEVER exploited people who tag data, civil discourse: _endangered_.
@evamarie
โ less to do with pessimism about technology and more to do with pessimism about humansโ
Tbh, I donโt think there is any human that should be trusted with the power over humanity. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
