"There were plenty of wines under €3 to choose from, but they decided to go with the cheapest and worst-tasting one they could find. a €2.50 bottle was selected and then disguised it as a premium product by naming it ‘Chateau Colombier’ and creating a more eye-catching label." https://www.odditycentral.com/news/2-70-supermarket-wine-wins-gold-medal-at-international-wine-contest.html
@estherschindler I would like to mention that when studies have been done where blind-folded professional wine-tasters and sommelliers were given different wines to taste, most of them were incapable of even telling the difference between a red and a white wine.
A thing I can do from 15 feet away, reliably, so it's not that humans can't smell wine. It's that _most_ humans can't smell wine but wine is basically rotten fruit we drink to get high, so there may be bias in romanticizing it.
