The vast majority of children in the UK own a smartphone by the age of 11, with ownership rising from 44% at age nine to 91% at age 11. In the US, 37% of parents of nine- to 11-year-olds say their child has their own smartphone.

@estherschindler It's a waste of tech too, unless they start building kid proof smartphones. I can't remember how many phones my daughter busted growing up, but it nearly put us in the poor house, because kids are just plain clumsy, and don't really care to look after their stuff. Lucky our son was autistic, and looked after all of his things, or I don't think we would have made it through child rearing.
