In general, it's a good idea to assume that any significant, important, mind-blowing information that you've just learned and really want to pass on to your buds is probably wrong.
It's always a good idea to (a) check where this amazing info came from and (b) try to find a completely *different* source (not just one with a different name, but one that has independent witnesses or evidence) that describes the same thing. Then (c) make sure that they are actually in agreement.
We're not thought to remember what happened at the beginning of a story, so it's necessary to explain it all in the middle and the end.
The same thing happens with real world events; no sooner has one important thing happened than another comes up and drives the first from our memories.
The result is that it becomes impossible to construct any but the most flimsy narratives or see connections between events. We are all focused on the temporary.
