@Susandoyle I tried Crown Royal Maple for the sole purpose of getting the brown Crown Royal bag (to be a Dungeons and Dragons dice bag, of course,) and... It tasted like alcoholic maple syrup.

I then tried it on pancakes.

It actually tasted fine. Obviously not as good as real maple syrup, but it worked better as pancake syrup than Log Cabin/Mrs. Butterworths/etc. (Yes, that's a low bar - a bar so low a mole is more likely to "trip" over it than an ant... But still, the point remains.)
