I get *THE MOST* scam calls... I usually troll them, playing along like I'm going to give them the information they want, see how long I can tie them up. You'd think my phone number would be blacklisted by now.
Back when I still answered the phone, I really wanted a home setup where I could put them on hold with the looping message "We're sorry, but all our household members are currently busy. Your call is important to us. Please stay on the line and your call will be answered in the order it was received." And just let it run until they hung up.
@ehurtley My dad always acted like he was hard of hearing to see how long he could get them to repeat.
One of my favorites is when they try to get me to send my computer to a web address cause a computer has been compromised I ask questions like 'which one?' 'what OS is it running?' "if you're providing support you have to have some kind of indication otherwise you'll just be wasting time" - just to keep them talking. Or 'there are no windows computer here'
My favorite was this exchange:
Scammer: "Hello, how are you doing today?"
Me: "Scammy, how about you?"
"Oh, I'm doing goo.... FUCK YOU!" *click*
Also funny is when they blame *ME* for "wasting their time" when they realize I'm trolling them.
