In France, it is still illegal for Muslim women and Jewish men to practice their interpretation of religion in the schools the pay taxes for, because intolerant people don't like to know people are different from them.
It's not secular like they say, just government sponsorship of other religious identities.
It's not tolerance like they say, to force people to conform to those who are intolerant.
It's no different than forcing the atheists in their schools to wear headdresses and/or yarmakles.

The point is that it's not targeting Jews, Muslims, or anyone else. Buddhists and Zoroastrians get treated the same way.

People may not like it, but it's not being done in an unfair or bigoted fashion.
