protesters have held a demonstration outside the BBC headquarters in Glasgow
The protest, organised by the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (SPSC), aimed to call out the complicity of the media in Israel's assault on Gaza.
Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign leader though back in 2023 - Scotland’s most prominent pro-Palestine activists has been arrested under counter-terrorism laws - Police arrest Mick Napier over ‘pro-Hamas’ words at Gaza rally
@ecksmc My emotional reaction is that vocally aligning yourself with terrorists should be punished.
Rationally, I think that arresting these blowhards set a dangerous standard long-term, not to mention garners sympathy from people who are looking to blame Israel (and Jews) for anything and everything.
Feels good momentarily, doesn't do good short- or long-term.
@Rocker he said a lot worse on Oct 7th than what he said at the protest - the tweet is embedded in that article with him saying on camera what he thought that day - I do think he shoulda been charged but just not on terrorism charges - there are other charges that he has, and could have, been charged with also
@ecksmc Yup - here, I'd have pushed for 'inciting violence against group of people,' but I don't know what equivalent laws are.
Although Mike said things defending hamas i don't think he shoulda been arrested under they charges
That said that groups leaders are clearly in support of hamas thats fact
