The nation’s biggest technology executives on Wednesday loosely endorsed the idea of government regulations for artificial intelligence at an unusual closed-door meeting in the U.S. Senate. But there is little consensus on what regulation would look like, and the political path for legislation is difficult.
executives attending the meeting were Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates and Google CEO Sundar Pichai. and Musk who said the meeting “might go down in history as being very important for the future of civilization.”
@lenaoflune @ecksmc but they all understand that the open source and academic communities are way ahead of them and the billionaires want the government to stand in their way; so they can catch up, patent lock, and reap all the profits from AI technologies. The only threats in AI at the moment are to billionaire's wallets.
@ecksmc: Musk would say that, anything to make himself seem like the visionary he isn't. Also, it's to try to get more people to subscribe to Twitter or at least to stop leaving it.
