Musk went to dark mode only - so, I'm done even poking around over there. It was likely a tactic to drive more away but it worked on me. Dark mode is bad for your eyes. Humans have adapted to reading dark words on light backgrounds for thousands of years. I'm not reverting to Neanderthal behavior or straining my eyes for a billionaire.

Done.

@Rabon actually darker mode set ups are better for you

Dark mode is intended to reduce blue light exposure and help with eye strain that comes with prolonged screen time.

The idea behind dark mode is that it reduces the light emitted by device screens while maintaining the minimum colour contrast ratios required for readability

Blue light waves are emitted from our screen devices.

@Rabon

In theory, this is because default screen settings expose you to more blue light after dark, disrupting your circadian rhythm and suppressing melatonin, the hormone that signals your body that it’s bedtime.

Dark mode may also be easier to read, especially when you’re in a room with the lights off. The reduction in blue light may reduce any squinting or strain associated with high amounts of brightness.

but it is a personal choice at end of day

@ecksmc

You may be believing too much hype. The below article explains in synopsis. There are numerous papers that suggest dark mode, particularly not "true dark mode" is worse for your eyes because it tricks them into thinking they are looking at significantly less light than they are and reducing the amount the pupil constricts.

@Rabon lmao oh i believe no hype

like i said it's matter of choice

there are papers that also say dark mode is better for your eyes loads of them - and i have read both sides of the argument years ago

like mostly everything there will be papers that claim somethings are good for you and other paper claiming the same things aren't

free will and all that we get to choose what we believe that said some people do find dark mode beneficial others, like yourself, don't - each to there own right
