Privacy advocates are aghast at UK’s anti-encryption plans

Their prime concern involves the threat to end-to-end encrypted (E2EE) messenger apps. Under the mooted measures, telecoms regulators could force platforms to scan through private messages for illegal content.

The proposals are part of the controversial Online Safety Bill

The bill provides for technology notices requiring communication providers to take away end-to-end encryption — to break it

@ecksmc
You think thats bad ... the UK Gov has removed the right for peaceful protest.

And the Human Rights Charter ... even includes provision for Capitol Punishment (hanging).

Guess its a cut & paste text from 1998 EU legislation when some countries were still in process of phasing out ... or worse, its an indication of intent.

Also, no right to life in Police custody, or riot situations.

Can only read the text as written ... worrying.

@DoxyMus1c not entirely true a peaceful is still allowed

and new changes are England only not the full UK

The Act gives the police extra powers, but does not give any new rights to individuals

Your right to protest (and organise protests) is protected by Article 10 (freedom of expression) and Article 11 (freedom of assembly)
