The latest version of the Google Chrome browser, v86, released earlier this month, contains a secret Read Later feature

The feature is not enabled by default, but users must enable it by activating a Chrome flag:

chrome://flags/#read-later

Once selected, this option closes the tab and adds the tab link to a bookmarks folders called "Reading list."

this folder can be accessed via a button on the bookmarks bar's right side, named "Reading list."

Once pressed, a dropdown list shows all the tabs that have been set aside, along with the tabs that have already been read.

ICYMI

this has been available for some time now

chrome://flags/#enable-reader-mode

enables a reader mode icon inside the omnibox

or address bar to none ChromeOS users

akin to the one found in Firefox and Opera

"read later" reading list now available on Chrome mobile for saving tabs to your read later list

once you enable the read later flag on all chrome browsers your reading list also syncs if you are signed in to chrome < you might need to toggle that on via your chrome sync settings if you use customise sync

to save a tab, web page, to reading list on Chrome mobile just bookmark the web page/tab and tap "reading list"

^^^^

also available in brave web browser and brave mobile via

brave://flags

works same way

well that feature was short lived

lol

seems the read later flag is not working - at least on my ChromeOS it isn't

the "read later" showed back up in Chrome a about a week ago for me

apparently it's also available in Chrome android

I say apparently because I have enabled the chrome://flag for this on android but nothing shows before the flag wasn't available on Android

also it's available on Brave for Android but same thing

it does work in web version of brave though brave://flags and find "read later" and enable it

@ecksmc I use Evernote - it regularly saves me when I need to refer back to technical notes - especially came in handy when I had laptop issues some time ago as I could access all the boot setting notes I needed from my tablet or phone.

@Mandypar @ecksmc I love Evernote! I have a shared folder with my kids for items they need to know too. I keep my reading list of URLs in a note in Evernote.
