Follower counts and numbers don't matter here. No one tracks them and no one ever goes viral. There is no algorithm of any kind tracking or targeting anyone here for any reason. None of it matters.

@dwcorne no real need to follow a bunch of people. We are all equal in the eyes of the community firehose. There's no algorithm other than my own actions muting, blocking or pinning hashtags. I browse the firehose a lot, so I purposefully keep my friend list smaller. If I follow everyone, my friend feed is just the firehose 🤷
I love when a new ‘Naut mentions needing, wanting, soliciting followers. I love how his community responds. If I were to translate it, I’d read it as, “Your worth is not scored by number of followers. You’re worthy already.” The fact that we’re invited to jump into convos, you can curate your experience with hashtags & filters, etc all translate to a welcoming, generally friendly community.

@dwcorne we're not big on following here unless we really really want to. you see, everyone shows up on the firehose - no algorithms dictate what you see.
you can curate your feed w/ blocks, muting, & filters. and you can set up a column for just who you follow.
but on the firehose, most peeps don't care b/c everything peeps post show up in real time.
