Well, sir, 'Do you have other social media accounts?' and 'May I follow you on your other social media accounts?' are two very different questions.
Had I replied with what you suggested I did, you could have easily said that you never wanted to follow me anywhere else and that it was just a question, and taken offence to me being presumptions.
I do not infer on social media: the risk of miscommunication is too high.
