Quebec leads explosive growth in Conservative membership sales: party numbers
There are now more Conservative members in Quebec than in the partyโs heartland province of Saskatchewan.
Taken together, Ontario and Quebec now account for more than half of the partyโs 678,708 total members eligible to vote in the Sept. 10 leadership contest. By any measure, the growth in Conservative numbers during the 2022 contest has been
unprecedented in recent Canadian politics.
@disk4mat I'm REALLY hoping that the large number of Quebec voters will largely translate to support for Charest. Also that many of these voters are only temporary "Con" voters until the leadership race has been decided (gave it serious thought myself, but put the $ into spoiling my sick pupper instead). Would be GREAT to see PeePee lose significantly, and a great relief that we'd be safe(r) come the next election.
@disk4mat I hate liars with a fiery passion and he intentionally does it every time he opens up his mouth. He's smarmy, evil, and i'll be so damn happy once he fades away into the background just like Andrew Sheer.
He is trying to be a populist leader.
In political science, populism is the idea that society is separated into two groups at odds with one another - "the pure people" and "the corrupt elite",
A Trumper type. I would hope Canadians are smarter than this but it seems to work else where.
I live in Alberta so you know the fight I have here.
I would say both. I think they inject you with a conservative handbook when you are born.๐คฃ
The wildrose party is without saying it a separation party. The conservative part is made up of wildrose having joined conservative party. They are the noisy ones.
We now have the freedom group joined in to get rid of Justin Trudeau (read wildrose party)
Alberta has more Americans living here because of the oil and gas company money.
I was born and raised in Ontario came here to be with the guy I married. I hear about Dougie from my Ont relatives.
Some of our good friends are reasonable conservatives. I gave up on all who are not life is too short.
More people moving here may make a diff come vote time. Albertans have been known to throw all the bums out and vote NDP too at local and provincial levels.
@disk4mat It's a really positive way of living life, Elusive. ๐
It would be wonderful if people moving there was the force to help push out all the Con baloney happening now (not just there but all over the country). :/ I'm sad that Jack Layton passed away, because if he were alive today he would know exactly how to stick it to the Conservatives. I voted NDP the yr that they won the opposition (i didn't care for Ignatieff).
@disk4mat Ugh, that sounds like fun. And by fun, i obviously mean not fun at all. ๐ฌ What a mess, you have my sympathies. โค๏ธ I would say move to Ontario, but Doug Ford is doing his best to make it a complete shithole while he has the chance. ๐ข It does feel safe here though, i will give it that.
