The survey did find a partisan discrepancy: While 81% of Democrats supported fact-checking in real time, 67% of Republicans did.

Sounds like the right 3rd party could scoop up all those people and get on with running things.
That said, I don't believe that the "far left" is anywhere near as far from the original center as the radical right. The playing field has been tilted.
Yeah, today's democrats are much more like the republicans of the 1970s. Today's republicans are like the LaRouchies.
The system is designed to prevent it. Representatives in gerrymandered districts will never allow ranked choice voting. Voters seem unwilling to get their information anywhere but TV commercials and algorithm-driven social media silos.

We're not as far apart as media might make you think. It's the lunatic fringe of every political group that gets coverage. People who have reasonable points of view don't get clicks and don't sell ads.
