She's smart, pays attention and a lifelong Democrat. When she asks me how we fight this last election I don't have good answers. The Democrats need an equal or better bullhorn to flood the media. The GOP has spent about 40 years creating theirs, with the help of some very wealthy backers. It's not just FOX and Sinclair any more. It's all the others like OAN & RSBN & TikTok and the major social media platforms and the Bro podcasts and things of which I'm not aware.

She came away thinking that the Harris campaign didn't push their policies enough and spent too much time bashing trump. And she pays attention. I don't think either of those are correct. But even a follower of the campaign has to dig deeper. The Big Media has chosen a side and it's not the Dems.
To create that over-powering media network to battle the right's can't happen in 4 years, or 8 or 12... It's a long process.
The two party system of just a couple years ago is broken and gone.
It wasn't that trump's message was right or wrong. It was loud and 24/7 and all pervasive. In this age of so many different inequalities, preaching hate and divisiveness works for more people than I like to think of.
Their policies are unpopular. The Democratic polices are popular. But the policies are no longer the point of debate. Minority rule takes care of that.
This will go on longer than I care to think about. It will go on until the shit hits everyone. And it will.

Again and again and again, the prevasive theme is that the "legacy" media failed us and they failed us bad. And they did, absolutely. They're functioning on an older model that assumes they can stay above the fray and is still speaking to a predominately educated audience.
But I disagree that we need years to establish that alternative network of attitudes and methodologies founded (still) on an actual democracy.

The two/three enemies are money, russia n friends, ignorance/media.
Going to need money to build alternative news source. E.g. Cuban and Buffet eventually others as they see the economy collapse.
