Ooof Maine's public utilities crooks (commission) just unveiled how much the standard offer for power generation is for the year. 17.6 cents a kWh.
With CMPs rob-yah-blind fee of 8.8ish cents a kWh
I'm looking at 26.4 cents to get a kWh of power into my house....
I use around 30-40 kWh a day
$7.92 - $10.56 a day to keep the lights on (when CMPs line crews aren't scrambling around fixing managements mismanagement)
@crazyuncleharris Why the F is it so high?!
@wideeyedcurious oh and we can't forget corporate greed (CMP had heavy profits this year ๐๐)
Management will need lots of bonuses on the generation and distribution sides for having a tough year of "mis-managing"
@crazyuncleharris Iโm sensing that they donโt have to get approval for rate hikes from a state officeโฆ? (We have that in Minnesota.)
@wideeyedcurious oh they do, however basic public sentiment about Maine's public utility commission is that they're in CMPs pocket and they're not so much for the people ๐๐ they basically just rubber stamp everything
@wideeyedcurious yeah instead of just these little writeups on the public broadcasting website
"oh it's a 49% increase or about 32 bucks a month, nothing major what so ever"
https://www.mainepublic.org/business-and-economy/2022-11-16/cmp-customers-will-see-rate-hikes-next-year
@wideeyedcurious at least our public advocate does sometimes attempt to reign in the utilities.
@crazyuncleharris Sheez! They should be representing the public interest, not the corporate interest.
