To All The New Folks.
Wellcome Home !
Lurking here on CoSo is a wonderful thing. If you are one who seldom posts, but enjoys reading, you are wanted and welcome. Posting is not required. You don't need to explain, nor in anyway feel less than, for lurking. In fact let's get rid of that word, and just say you are a reader.
All writers need readers. Reading is semi-miraculous act. And respect is due.

Welcome Home !
I post a lot of links here.
I neither endorse, nor oppose the views in said links.
I post to inform.
Things I try to do in posts.
1. Use Hashtags to help us find stuff.
2. Try and find the original source.
3. Attribute, include author(s) name.
4. Quote a small bit of article.
5. Whenever possible include link to underlining paper.
Let me know if there is any other info you might want me to include.

This is a sub-toot.
I you wish to block me, cool, I ain't got no problems with that.
But please no need to announce it. You don't need a reason. You don't need to justify anything. Just hit the block button. The tools are freely given everyone.
The whole point of putting moderation controls in the user's hands is for us to use them. At will. With no bad feelings.
The usual disclaimer:
As with any breaking news. But especially with war news. Be very careful in not reporting unconfirmed information. Yes it is important to stay informed, yet early reporting about anything in the Middle East is often suspect.
If you must post, and are not sure, please add the word "Unconfirmed."

"What is ADMS, anyways!?"
That DIRECT MESSAGE (DM) is often great in the moment, but we think that there's usually very little reason for it to stick around.
That's why we added the:
Automatic
Direct
Message
Scrubber
If enabled, the ADMS Pro account feature will automagically delete any DM you send or recieve, keeping your DMs column nice and tidy. #CoSoTips

The most annoying bad habit in trying to help people.
To slightly rephrase: the most annoying habit is to not ask people if they want help before just offering itโand trust me on thisโit is really fucking annoying to the person youโre theoretically trying to help.
A great tool for dealing with this annoying habit. Wait until your friend is done telling their story and then ask them โAre you venting or looking for advice?โ

( I don't share this guy often, because he has some crazy ideas, but this critique of the Biden administration policy in Ukraine is right on. At some point the US and our allies are going to have to take the gloves off and kick Russia's butt. The sooner we do that the less lives will be lost and the less expensive it will be.)
CounterSocial, the most well-moderated social media platform in existence, has been temporarily removed from Google's app store becauseโwait for itโthey say that there isn't a way to REPORT objectionable content.
We're posting this information to encourage Google to tap on the three dots located on the bottom of EVERY post. It's right there. #CoSoTips
There used to be a diner in Chicago, open very early in the morning. I ate dinner there often as I worked graveyard. It specialized in waffles, eggs, and Scrapple, otherwise known as Pannhaas. That and weirdly chicory coffee. Run by this huge Dutch short order cook. Ex merchant Marine. Both arms, completely tattooed.
So good.
