advice folks, pls:

i interviewed a great dude for an opening in my org. great answers. will need training as he's making a career change from child/youth at risk work to something more admin & policy driven.

however, delicate convo time - he showed up in a t-shirt (plain) with an unbuttoned shirt & jeans. all had seen better days. while we're not a suit & tie kinda place, we are an office w/ a biz casual feel. donors expect a certain level of professionalism.

how would you handle this convo?

@singlemaltgirl Perhaps ask "Can you tell me about your choice of dress for the interview?" Give him a chance to tell why.

@singlemaltgirl What I say to younger people when I am hiring is that our office (for the same reasons as yours) tends to be conservative in dress. I let them figure it out from there.
