Occasionally recurring, non-periodic reminder that this is all theatre. Some acts are better than others, You can root for your favourite characters and plot lines, and you can congratulate yourself when they come to fruition, but arguing with strangers on the internet isnβt going to influence any of it. Everything is always worse than it should be, and better than it seems. Being kind to your neighbours and helping people in need are the most powerful things you can do.

How it works:
1. A group of accounts seeds fake story on Xwitter
2. A group of blue checks boost it to juice the impressions
3. Google crawlers use # of instances X impressions surface fake stories to the top of it's news search
4. Some junior journo wannabe picks up the story for their stupid blog, compounding results
5. It takes 3-5 days for mainstream to fact check and report. Damage already done.
6. It still takes days for the fact check article to trump Google's results, if it ever does.

I'd already made my decision before I posted the poll. Screenshots were taken and the account was reported and blocked.
