In the months ahead, when Donald F. Trump does the things he's said he'd do, and it finally wakes you up and causes you alarm, I pledge not to say "We tried to tell you". I pledge instead to hug you and tell you that we'll get through it, together.
However, this pledge is rendered null and void if you also happen to utter "Who knew he would do such an insane thing to our country?"
If that happens, I pledge to love you but also to walk away from you forever.
