last night on our after-dinner walk, we heard an owl ( i think it was a great horned), and saw a nighthawk swooping around 😍

earlier in the day i saw the osprey family, with 2 big fish they had caught.

also the monarch butterflies were bopping all around in the pollinator garden they have at the park.

what a lovely time to just walk and notice the critters around us.

oh and we saw two fawns, bigger but still spotted, and SO MANY RABBITS.

@chromogirl We have been overrun by rabbits this year. Unsure why, but my yard is chock full o' pellets. I wonder if perhaps too many local coyotes have been killed/relocated?

@codeWhisperer

i was talking to an ecologist earlier in the summer, and it seems cottontails are just having an extra-large peak in what are normal cycles this year.

we still have a bunch of coyotes that roam around, but i haven't seen many skunks this year for some reason.

i can't pretend to understand all those relationships, but i do love seeing/hearing the neighbors 😍
