@allin They did get it under control at about 7:30pm. It was some guy who had been fined for having a large pile of brush on his property so for some reason he thought today, with a burning ban and high wind, was a good time to set it on fire.
I hope they make that fool pay for all the fire departments that got called out there to fight it. A friend of mine told me we had another large fire last weekend. That one supposedly crossed I-80 from the north to the south side of the interstate.
@allin Most of the summer has been dry. We’ve had rain, just not enough of it. It comes in brief periods of heavy rain then weeks of nothing for weeks. Right now it is dry and today was really windy. We’ve been under a burn ban most of the summer. It’s always illegal to burn in town but this guy lives outside of town. That doesn’t excuse his ignorance at starting a fire then walking away from it when it wasn’t fully out. Especially given how strong the wind was today.
@cjcrew I sure hope he pays a big price for his stupidity. Has it been very dry in your area?
